God is powerful. Prayer (communication with God) yields powerful results. Being faithful/constant/steadfast in prayer is biblical (Romans 12:12). While there are often gatherings for studying the Bible it is rare to hear of a gathering simply for prayer. How much is missed!
Community Prayer encourages you to gather weekly with a group of believers to pray collectively for the needs of your families, the community, our nation, and the world. This group could consist of people from your church, or could be developed to include brothers/sisters from across the community.
While some prayer groups spend most of the time sharing prayer requests and what's left of the hour actually praying, Community Prayer recommends quite the opposite. As the point and focus is on prayer during this time, the needs are naturally scattered among the participants, and the most important part - prayer - fills the time together as it should.
Feel free to follow our re-usable weekly prayer focus cards, and/or pray as the Holy Spirit leads.
AREA OF INTEREST: prayer, organization, connection, consistency ACTION: begin/develop a church-wide/community-wide weekly prayer hour. This time could include:
5 minutes of introduction/55 minutes of prayer
both large group prayer, and time divided out into groups of 3 or 4
WHO: this project could be set up by an individual or small group of leaders and run within a single church, or (ideally) with invitations to those from churches close by. CONNECTION: contact your pastor, or pastors from churches in your community, to see if there is a time your/a church facility has unscheduled that this weekly prayer gathering could take place. INTERACTION: in your obedience to pray with others, watch together to see how the Lord works in your requests.
