There are so many all around us who, during the colder months each year, struggle to find basic warmth. Hugs and Kisses aims to utilize the craftiness of knitters and crochet-ers to make scarves (hugs) and hats (kisses) to share warmth with those in need.
We receive beautiful handmade items from the knitting/crochet groups we work with in retirement centers, from individuals, and through church and community center groups — pretty much anyone who enjoys working with their hands in this way. We love to encourage creativity, and find each new and well-loved pattern used produces a generous gift.
Hugs and Kisses (and blankets, etc) that are donated are given to children and families in need, cancer patients, foster children, the homeless, the elderly in nursing homes, and anyone else in need of winter warmth. We work with existing local (GA) and US organizations and ministries, as well as organizations abroad, to get these wonderful handmade items to those who need them.
12,465 WARM ITEMS DONATED (as of 11.2022)
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We would love your help in this effort to share warmth with those in need! Every hat/scarf/blanket/etc makes a real difference! You can:
knit or crochet a "hug" (scarf), a "kiss" (hat) - or a blanket, shawl, mittens, etc. (any pattern)
donate yarn (anything from full skeins to leftover (clean) balls of any size)
donate funds to provide materials (yarn, needles/hooks, tags, delivery costs, etc)
pray for those who will receive Hugs and Kisses
REQUIREMENTS: Each item that is given out through Hugs and Kisses must be handmade and unused.
