WRITERS BLOCK

It is our desire through Writer’s Block to help missionaries and small mission organizations improve and refine their written communications (updates, newsletters, brochures, etc.) in the much needed and practical areas of text editing, writing, and graphic design services. As this is a missing piece of support for many in the field, we offer guidance and encouragement in this area.
Experiences of what God is doing are often not clearly communicated, and these stories are therefore often overlooked, and opportunities for encouragement and support are missed. Many serving in missions have a hard time writing and putting together clear updates and other materials (especially non-native English speakers). There is an abundant need among missionaries for editorial and design support services, and quality, consistent communication with supporters, churches, and individuals who follow a given ministry is essential. The editorial services we provide for missionaries are gifts (no cost to them) to support their work, and enable them to do what they do better. If you or your church support mission workers who would benefit from writing, editing, or graphic design help, please feel free to direct them toward Writer's Block here at The Encouragement Project. STEPHANIE CERVANTES is the director of The Encouragement Project, and the lead editor for Writers Block. Having served as a missionary in Europe for 7 years, she understands the need among missionaries (especially non-native English speakers) for editorial and design support. Clear, consistent communication with supporters, churches, and individuals who follow a given ministry is so important.
During her time on the field, Stephanie worked with many mission leaders across Europe on a variety of writing and support projects. She believes the Writers Block efforts will be a help and blessing — not only for missionaries, but also for those who read their stories. |
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be an experienced writer/editor, complete a sample process, and be willing to commit to volunteering for a period of at least six months.
