In an efforts to encourage those around us, The Inkwell combines the practice of hand-writing notes of encouragement along with prayer for the recipient. We suggest purposefully considering those serving the Lord in ministry — pastors, missionaries, church leaders, ministry workers-- who daily pour themselves out for God and others. These servants often work with little support, encouragement, or time for renewal, and can benefit greatly from this kind of connection. While The Inkwell centers around those in ministry, we know that the need for encouragement is limitless — those who are ill, the elderly, those serving in the military, friends in difficult times, new moms/families, teachers— the list is extensive.
For any of these folks (truly any of us), knowing someone took the time to hand-write a note and pray specifically for them gives a real boost of courage.
This idea encourages individuals to “adopt” a pastor/worker by committing to pray for them consistently for a year, and send a monthly hand-written card with a note, verse or other encouragement. Suggested involvement can range from simply prayer and cards, to phone calls, emails, visits, and other interactions as God leads and builds connections.
