There is something special about sharing a meal together with others. Conversations and fellowship can make this daily experience richer and more complete.
Do you know that there are many who eat alone most of the time? Especially the elderly.
Sunday Dinner encourages you to choose a weekly meal - perhaps the midday meal on Sundays, or a Thursday evening - to purposefully and consistently seek out and invite someone/a family to join you at your table (either in your house or out).
The encouragement gained on both sides could be deeper than you might think.
SUGGESTED DIRECTIONS
AREA OF INTEREST: eating, listening, talking, cooking, baking, connecting, fellowship ACTION: invite someone to eat a meal with you/your family. Ideally, this would be:
someone who is alone
a weekly/monthly invitation
inside your home, for a picnic in the park, out at a restaurant, etc.
WHO: this project could be done individually, with your family, or with a group of friends. CONNECTION: ask a neighbor, reach out to a single person from church, or see if a senior living or assisted living facility would be open to you coming there for a meal once a week to engage with the residents. INTERACTION: enjoy encouraging someone who is lonely, building relationships, and being generous with your time, food, and interactions!
